I've Been Resting and Reading

Irises by Van Gogh(allposters.com)
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday! This was a busy, busy day, but at least I do feel better. The cough is lingering, but I'm getting my strength back. I just wanted to let you know that I have read 3 books in the past week, along with my Bible.
First I read, "Unbeatable(the whole story)" by Laurie Frey. She was diagnosed with breast cancer right in the middle of a hectic job with David Copperfield, building a new house, and finding out her son is autistic. She was close to the Lord, but this brought her to the point of completely surrendering to His will, not her control. My friend, Brenna, shared this with me. She has a great blog at Expressions of Grace and she inspired me to start a blog. She has such a sweet spirit and I know you will love her. It's a brand new book and I highly recommend it.
Second, I read "A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity" by Bill O'Reilly. He's ten days older than me and reading about his life growing up in the 50's was fun and it helps you realize how he got to where he is today. If you enjoy him on his program, you will enjoy this book. It puts it altogether and I can see why it's a bestseller.
Lastly, I read, "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. This is a book of letters and tells the story about a group of interesting characters at the end of WWII. It's a touching story and the main character, Juliet, is a writer.
This book gives a fresh look at what individuals went through during uncertain times. The writers draw you in it was a memorable read for me. It would be a great movie.
I had a busy weekend with lots of laundry. Mark's birthday and the ever fun house cleaning. I hope everyone had a great weekend. I'm getting ready to start, "Blessed Child" by Ted Dekker that Strider recommended. It looks like a great read and I'll let you know how I like it. Have a super week!!!

Nanatrish, I'm so glad you're feeling better. However, doing loads of laundry may be pushing it, you need to take it easy lest you suffer a setback. I know how tempting it is to 'catch up' once our strength returns after an illness, but nice, slow and easy is the way to ease back into it. I find that when I am under the weather I can only read in short spurts, with long periods of eye rest in between. It sounds like your reading material was the perfect antidote....inspirational and heartwarming. Reading about the strength and stamina of others leaves me in awe!

Gosh, I'm glad you're feeling better. You had us worried! I do wish you would not do laundry though. You're as bad as me. Can't sit still. :o)

Also, seems you're an avid reader as I am but my 'addictions' are Agatha Christie and Forbes magazine. Both I find strangely comforting. Nothing like a 'good murder'and a cup of hot tea to calm the nerves. [giggle] The other to calm the choppy seas of financial nerve concerns. (My accounting background is showing, isn't it. I'm so boring.)

Anyway, get well soon pal! Don't stress yourself with too much work yet. We're thinkin' of ya!

Glad you're feeling better and getting some good reading in!

Your new look is very pretty and "fallish", too! I also liked the Van Gough print with your post today. My daughter and I have just started studying him and his works.

Trish! I'm so glad you are feeling better and found time in your busy life to do all that wonderful reading. Good for you! I had a great weekend too - a bit too much relaxing, but I got lots of odds and ends done in between.

I'm both impressed and jealous of your spurt of reading. I have stacks of books, but find that most of the time I just can't read (concentrate) like I used to do. I think I have case of Menopausal ADD. I'm convinced it is a real malady. I want to read the Potato Peel one. I looked for it at Wal-Mart today.

I haven't read Bill O'Reilly's book yet, but it looks pretty good. Glad you're feeling better.

i will have to make a note of those books. Always on the look out for something new.
Will have to go out to the second hand book stall today as I am staying at my daughter's and have run out of books.
I am borrowing her computer to write this!

Glad you are much stronger now.

Glad to hear you are on the mend. Strider's wife loaned me her copy of Blessed Child. It was a good read. I think you will enjoy its thought provoking message.
