Seasons of our Life

Just outside my bedroom window here in Atlanta

I was listening to Beth Moore on the way to Atlanta yesterday. I have most of her bible studies and I listen to them on my 3 hour trip back and forth. She is detailed in her study and she really makes me think. I enjoy her southern accent and I really feel like she loves the Lord. I was listening to a study yesterday that made me think. She said, "What season are you in your life?"

I had to really stop and think. I have had seasons where I was a young mother, middle aged and now I'm at a place where I suppose I should be thinking about retirement, but I'm not. I love working and I hope I have quite a few years left in my career. If the Lord has something else for me though, I want to be open.

I have thought about teaching at some point when I move back to South Carolina for good. I'm interested in so many things and I would love to share my love with children. I don't ever want to stop learning and teaching would be a great way to continue learning.

One thing about this season is that I have finally stopped worrying so much about some of the stuff that occupied my mind constantly say twenty or thirty years ago. Things like...what am I going to do with my life? Who am I really? Will I ever see my daughter as an adult?

I want to live out this season enjoying every single day I'm given.

I love to listen to Beth Moore. She never ceases to surprise me with something new from the word.

I'm going from one season (homeschooling mom/grammie) to another. I think I'm going to stay at the napping season for awhile. :)

I'm in a season blessed with contentment. I have my God, my books, my music, my family and endless possibilities. In my heart, I want for nothing.

Brenda and Alice, you both give me so much pleasure with your blogs. I think we are at a quite lovely season. When I was young I probably would have thought this a boring season, but now with these years on me, it's a wonderful season!

Seasons...yes, I never would have thought that when I was younger, but God has shown me that this is the way our lives are... we move from one season to another and He uses each of these to bless us!!

This was encouraging to read...I think I am still asking some of those questions. I feel like I am in such a transition season. My last child just left home this spring, and I am still trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up :0)

I think it's important to "live" in the season that we're in. They pass so quickly. It's hard to relax and enjoy. I need to try harder.

Oh....and the levi quilt! Back in the day, my husband's mom and grandma made quilts to give the newly married couples out of old levis. Eventually, they started making them out of denim from the fabric store. This quilt is our attempt to carry on the tradition. It is HUGE and looks really great!

Before I went to work full time I had time for Bible Studies. Beth Moore and Kay Arthur were my favorites. They are both so insightful. Precept Bible studies are my favorites. I learned so much.

It is nice that you are so content with your life right now. I'm not too crazy about mine and I'm not so sure how to change it.

Nanatrish, words of wisdom here. I think its one of the benefits of growing older, that so many of those worries that preoccupy the young, they just fall away....

It's liberating!

I think you are in a good place now...as for your goals, wherever there are children, there is a need for teaching. Since you have unique talents in that direction, prayer may do wonderful things and bring such opportunities to you.

Your blog is really coming along and I am enjoying my visits here...

Each season definitely has it's purpose. I think it's easy to wish away for another season instead of being content and enjoying the present. ...something I need to remind myself of! With disabled children who probably won't leave the nest, my seasons will probably overlap. I think finding joy in anything is the key. I've never listened to any of Beth Moore, although they are quite popular around here. Thanks for the nice post and good reminders!

I love to listen to Beth Moore, also. She is such an awesome speaker and teacher. Being from GA originally myself, I love her southern accent, too.
Thanks for making me think about all the different seasons of my life.

THis sounds like the study I am in currently...is it the "Steppin' Up?" I have bought 4 of the studies on CD to listen to on my lengthy drive to and from work...it is a blessing!
By the way, our study won't start until September so you may be done with the Mary study then. But I am GLAD to have you join as I stumble my way through this! My sister Aimee will be doing a lot of the study as well!
Welcome to the group!
