I'm So Blessed

The last few days it just keeps rolling around in my head that I have so much to be thankful for. I wonder if I haven't been grateful enough lately and the Lord is reminding me of how good I have it. I have been loving reading my Message translation of the Bible and what has jumped out at me today is the following: "I've learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances. I'm just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I've found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am."
Philippians 4:13,14. Paul had learned how to deal with all his situations. I suppose this is a lifelong lesson for me. I do want to list some of the things I am so thankful for:
My relationship with the Lord
I have a husband that loves me.
I have a daughter that loves me and has grown up to be an adult I love, not that little curly haired moppet easy to love, or the teenager that made me pull out my hair.
I have a sweet granddaughter.
I have a wonderful son-in-law.
I have great friends.
I have a warm, loving church home.
I have a home.
I have a job.
I have loving pets.
I have a car.
I have clothes to wear.
I have food to eat (too much sometimes)
I have lots of books.

Why do I ever complain about anything? God has been so good to me. He's the One who makes me who I am. I only have what I have because the Lord has given me all I have. To the world it probably would seem that I don't have that much, but I am a pilgrim and I'm just passing through. How about you?

I'm blessed too Trish! I have great children and sweet sweet grandchildren. I have a job that pays the bills. I have enough craft supplies to last me a couple of years. I have enough books to read one everyday for a couple of years. I have friends. I have a car that works. God loves me.

It is a great time to start counting those blessings again.

You are quoting one of my lifetime scriptures.

Thanks for the reminder!

It's always good to remember our blessings. Too often we take them for granted. Thanks for the post.

You know Nana...... it does me good to come over here and read something like this. You seem to be really using your Christian faith.
My head tells me that this IS the way to be. I know it and have it in the Scriptures & have been studying it for years. I know I am lucky compared to so many.
So why am I letting a few rodents ruin my life?

Amen sweety!! Counting our blessings.....
When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing as the days go by.

When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings. Wealth can never buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.

So, amid the conflict whether great or small,
Do not be disheartened, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

Thank YOU for reminding us to be Thankful to the Lord God that supplies all.

I have a lot to be thankful for also. I'm thankful ...

... the Lord Jesus loves me and died for my sins.
... for my husband who is the light of my life and my best friend.
... for all my wonderful friends: here and in Bloggyland.
... for dogs that keep me company when I'm scared about life or lonely.
... to be retired and debt free.
... to live in a place I love.
... to be able to ride motorcycles.
... for the surgery that has healed my neck of pain.

I could go on all day, but won't. You started a good thing with the Thankfulness. Think I'll sit here quietly and remember all that God has done and Be Thankful.

((Hugs)) My Friend ♥ ∞

Nana, you are so richly blessed. I think one of God's gifts to you was your appreciation of His blessings, wouldn't you say? Reading your post reminded me of all the things I have, and am grateful for. Isn't it funny, we "can't" complain and yet we do...it must just be human nature I guess!

Oh how easy it is to just take our blessings for granted. Thanks for this reminder. I, too, have so much to be thankful for.
