Any books you would recommend?

It's good to be back writing a post. I have been fighting with allergies and I was thankful to have an extra day off to rest on the holiday. Sneezing a zillion times and having burning eyes have kept me from doing all the things I wanted to do. I shouldn't complain. Allergies are not a big deal and I need to just thank the Lord it's not worse.

I have been reading a C.S. Lewis book, "The Problem of Pain". It is such a thought provoking book. He was a brilliant man.

I wonder what you guys are reading these days. I think I need to read something a little lighter when I finish this and I am anxious to know if there's a book or series that you would recommend.

Hello Nana Trish...stopping by to say hello and catching up on your blog.

Life has been busy here in Montana...haven't had time to read a book since I read "The Shack", a couple of months ago, but if you haven't read that one yet, it's a good one, I highly recommend it!

Stay Blessed...

I enjoy Barbara Pym novels. "Excellent Women" and "A Glass of Blessings", "The Sweet Dove Died" are some of my favourites. Gentle humour, set in post-war London. Engaging characters and an amusing look at life.

Also, any of Somerset Maugham's short stories, or my favourite book of his, "The Razor's Edge".

Hi Trish!
I have to confess I'm not reading anything these days! Only blogs that I love to keep up on everybody as best as I can.
I've had fun catching up on your posts Trish!

I'm doing some re-reading of Anita Shreve's books. I read Sea Glass and Fortunes Rock and I think I'll re-read The Weight of Water next. Along with LL's suggestion I'll add Somerset Maugham's The Painted Veil.

Well........ at the moment I am reading ......
"Cognitive Therapy IN A Nutshell!" A teach yourself Creative Writing Book and have just finished a gripping book by Elizabeth Flock called "But Inside I'm Screaming"
The last one I read in a day, as I couldn't put it down!
I'm sure none of these are what you needed to read but you did ask!

Hi Nana Trish,

I hope your allergies are better. Bad time of the year for those.

I think you will enjoy Rebecca Ramsey's book FRENCH BY HEART. I know you love all things french and this book is a winner. You'll laugh until you cry and cry a bit too. It is a truly wonderful book. She has a great blog as well-wondersnevercease.

She is a sweetheart too!

Feel better.

hugs,
Barb

Hi Nana Trish!
Thanks for coming over and visiting with me! :) It is so nice to meet you and I've enjoyed reading some of your blog! I really liked Mary Kay Andrews' books like Savannah Blues and Savannah Breeze. They are Southern and sassy and fun!
Lots of smiles, Bebe :)

Ted Dekker has written some great books. My wife just finished the series "Blessed Child," and "A man called Blessed." She loved them.

Thanks for the comment on my favorite recipes blog! I love to read. Terry Blackstock and Francine Rivers are two of my favorite authors. I can hardly put their books down after starting them.

I just finished A Lesson Before Dying by Earnest Gaines. It was a powerful story. I would recommend it.
