My Time in Seattle

I finally got the pictures to download. Sometimes I am amazed that I ever get these things to work. This has been a sad day for me. I thought Farrah was such a courageous person and she was really trying to win her battle, but she has gone home now. Then to hear about Micheal Jackson. It's such a reminder that death is no respecter of the famous or wealthy. He seemed like such a tormented soul.

I will show you some of the highlights of our trip. Our first morning we went to this wonderful little restaurant called Lola's. The food was very fresh and tasty. The toast was scrumptious and tasted like homemade bread.
On Saturday I took myself to the Seattle Art Museum. I was so excited because I thought I would get to see the Andrew Wyeth exhibit. Well, if you look closely you can see in the fine print that this amazing collection arrived today, June 25th. It's another case of a day late and a dollar short. The museum was interesting and had a great group of contemporary works.
I love raw oysters. I was not aware that there are so many different types of oysters. There was probably 50 kinds at this particular restaurant. The dip in the middle that looks like sorbet is actually shaved ice with a vinegar berry combo. Erica and I didn't care for it at all. I'm just a cocktail sauce kind of gal. I must tell you that every bit and morsel of seafood I had in Seattle was so fresh and tasty. I don't know if it was the Northern Pacific waters or what. These were delightful!

Here's a seafood chowder that had huge pieces of crab meat and fish that danced in my mouth.

The next yummy was fried Cheese Curds with jalapeno mint sauce. These came highly recommended by the shuttle driver. Beyond delicious!

Our group had a three hour version of Amazing Race in Seattle. It was a scavenger hunt that takes the participants all around the city. The next two pictures are of Erica and Chemika planning their strategy. There were 6 teams and they had clever color names like, Blues Clues, Orange Crush, Yellow Submarine, etc.

Here's Erica. She was on the Orange Crush team. They came in second place.

Here's Chemika intent on winning and you know what....the Yellow Submarines won!!

Here's the famous market where they throw the big fish. This street had grown so much since I was there in 1990. Lots of cutsie shops. There were flowers everywhere. Very inexpensive.

As we were walking along a girl was walking her baby pig. It was so cute. Avery would have loved him. So unusual to see a little piggie walking around.

Here's the famous Space Needle. This was from the hotel and it was an overcast day like so many of them. It hadn't rained in something like 29 days, a record I believe. The locals were getting very nervous. It was lovely cool weather in the 50's and 60's. Now I'm back in the HEAT and I do mean heat. I'm already longing for the fall and winter.
This was a great trip and I hope you get to visit Seattle some day soon. Friendly people and great food. Love it. I think it's a neat city, but the housing prices and cost of living seems to be higher than Atlanta. One of my friends had commented that they liked to visit Seattle, but she wouldn't want to live there. I totally agree. There were lots of homeless people. I imagine it would take lots of cash to live there. Another huge factor is that all my family is on the east coast or midwest. I don't want to be so far away from my loved ones. A visit is fine, but not anything on a permanent basis. I now see why you folks up in B.C. and Oregon and Washington love it so much. The trees were great and everywhere we looked at was like paintings. The boats and the water made me want to run back and start painting. Next summer our meeting will be in Hilton Head, S.C. so that will be close to home and quite a different setting. It's a relaxing quiet place. I hope you have enjoyed a little of my trip. I wish you could have all been with me.

That was an unusual post because there were so many different pictures in it. From tasty food (except the raw oysters!) to a little pig on a lead!
Great pictures and worth the wait.

Oh Trish! I have always wanted to go to Seattle. My best friends mom was from there and always told the best stories about living there. Dick promises soon...I want to go to Banff too on the same trip. Our dream is to start in Baja and travel north along the coast ending at Banff.

Love the pig! Glad you had a good time!

I enjoyed seeing your visit to Seattle...in review! I have been to Seattle many times...since it is only three hours south of where I live. But I have yet to visit Pike's Market! We are usually there for a meeting...or a sporting event...or shopping at the factory outlets...and have never really spent much time downtown. I'm putting it on my 'bucket list'.

It looks like you had a fun time!
